Construction will begin June 30 along a section of Jalama Road about 7.7 miles west of  Highway 1, south of Lompoc, Santa Barbara County Public Works Department officials said.

Crews will repair a section of Jalama Road that was damaged and eroded by the rains during the 1995 winter storms. The project is supposed to be completed by mid-November, county officials said. Working hours are scheduled from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Drivers are urged to use caution when traveling on Jalama Road as traffic will narrow to one lane during the construction period. Flaggers and other various traffic control devices will be used to reduce vehicle speeds to 10 mph.
KCLU center gets $1M
The Martin V. and Martha K. Smith Foundation provided a $1 million grant to fund the Education Suite in the new KCLU Broadcast Center. It will provide classroom and laboratory space where student interns can acquire hands-on experience in broadcast journalism. This will allow CLU to expand its communication curriculum.
