Josh Kane, long known as an owner of Santa Barbara-based The Apartment Specialists [now called TAS Commercial], has flown the coop and built a new nest for himself in Ventura, leading a satellite office for national commercial brokerage Sperry Van Ness.

Kane’s real estate career was hatched alongside TAS owner and founder Craig Lieberman. While still in college, Kane started working as an assistant to Lieberman. By age 23, he became an equal partner at the company. Together, the team expanded the company to include a property management and investments division.

Now 27, Kane said it was time for him to spread his wings, so to speak.

“Craig and I still are on great terms – we have properties and do business still together,” Kane said. “I’ve been working with Craig since I was 20 and I’m 27 now and it was just time for me to go out and do my own thing.”

After working on a deal with fellow Ventura-based Sperry Van Ness broker Mark Haworth, Kane began to consider making a move to the company, tempted by its expanded capabilities and services, he said.
