Jean M. Dandona and Kay S. Kuns have been appointed to judgeships in the Santa Barbara County Superior Court.

Dandona, 60, of Carpinteria, has served as a senior legal research attorney for the Santa Barbara County Superior Court since 2000 and previously served as a legal research attorney from 1999 to 2000. She was of counsel with John C. Lauritsen & Associates from 1991 to 1999, a sole practitioner from 1989 to 1999 and an associate with Howard C. Parke & Associates from 1987 to 1989.

Dandona worked as an associate with Heily & Blase from 1984 to 1986 and 1981 to 1983 and Samuelson & Oksner from 1979 to 1981. She earned a degree from University of California, Hastings College of Law and a bachelor’s from the University of California, Santa Barbara. Dandona fills the vacancy created by the death of Judge Joseph Lodge. Dandona is a Democrat.

Kuns, 57, of Solvang, has been a sole practitioner since 1979. From 1976 to 1979, she served as a deputy city attorney for the Los Angeles City Attorney’s Office. She earned a degree from the University of San Diego School of Law and a bachelor’s from the University of California, San Diego. She fills the vacancy created by the retirement of Judge Rodney S. Melville. Kuns is registered as decline-to-state.
