San Luis Obispo County’s unemployment rate jumped in March to 8.7 percent after holding steady the month before.
The 0.6 percent rise is equal to the loss of about 500 jobs last month. The county’s rate is still significantly lower than the statewide unemployment rate of 11.2 percent. Nationwide, the jobless rate was 9 percent in March.
Oceano and Paso Robles had the highest unemployment rates in the county.
