President Barack Obama stood alongside former first lady Nancy Reagan at the White House June 2 as he signed a bill to honor President Ronald Reagan’s 100th birthday, which occurs Feb. 6, 2011.
The bill was introduced by U.S. Rep. Elton Gallegly, a Republican who serves Ventura and Santa Barbara counties.
The Ronald Reagan Centennial Commission Act creates an 11-member commission that will plan and carry out activities deemed fitting to honor Reagan. Such activities could include special stamps or coins or a joint session of Congress.
