Anchor Blue Retail Group, a 177-store casual wear retailer that filed for bankruptcy protection under Chapter 11 in May, may close one of its five tri-county locations as it attempts to restructure out of bankruptcy.

The store at 820 State St. in Santa Barbara is on the tentative closure list. Brian Johnson of Radius Group said the 5,800-square-foot store is on one of the most prominent blocks in the city.

“If that space loses Anchor Blue as a tenant, that will be a big hole in the best block of State Street,” Johnson said, adding that vacancy rates in the prime blocks of State Street are still very low.
