Miramar developer Rick Caruso’s permits are about to run out, but his confidence isn’t.
It’s been almost a full decade since the iconic Miramar Hotel in Montecito was closed for renovations, but Caruso is confident that just one more year will do the trick.
The county gave him the green light to tear down the dilapidated Miramar Hotel and replace it with a five-star resort in December 2008, but appeals and lawsuits held up the project. By the time he was cleared to move dirt on the property last April, funding had dried out.
