Thousand Oaks-based California Lutheran University contributes $142 million to the Ventura County economy, including taxes of about $21 million and 1,400 full-time jobs.
Those figures are the result of an economic impact study CLU conducted as part of its 50th anniversary.
The study was conducted by Jamshid Damooei, a professor of business administration at CLU and former director general of the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Finance in Iran and United Nations economist. Damooei said his report looked only at the direct impact of CLU and didn’t account for the contributions of CLU graduates to the overall economy.
Damooei said CLU’s operating budget for 2008-09 was about $65 million, with an added $22.6 million in capital expenditures. The total student population is about 4,200, including 2,042 undergraduates, 787 master’s of business administration students and 1,411 non-MBA graduate students.
