The seven candidates for Ventura County treasurer-tax collector include former bankers, a retired judge and the head of the county’s Taxpayers Association.

The candidates include Keith McLaughlin, the former chief financial officer at Countrywide Financial Corp., a company at the heart of the subprime loan crisis.
