There’s a lot at stake in this year’s June 8 primary.
Because gerrymandering is still the name of the game, primary winners in several legislative districts will have a virtual lock on the November election.
Key primaries include the Democratic side in the 35th Assembly District, which covers parts of Ventura and Santa Barbara counties, and the Republican race in the 33rd Assembly District, which includes Northern Santa Barbara County and all of San Luis Obispo County.
Santa Barbara County’s district attorney, Ventura County’s 2nd district supervisor and Ventura County’s sheriff will be elected outright. Other races will see the field narrowed substantially in the run-up to the general election this fall.
When all the advertisements have been purchased, and all the fundraisers have been held, and all the flesh has been pressed, it is up to you, the voters. Come election day on June 8, please be sure to cast your ballot. It’s really important.
