California Controller John Chiang unveiled his online database of local government salaries and benefits on Oct. 25, and it was missing two cities and one county in the tri-county region.
Guadalupe and Grover Beach were among the 58 California cities that did not turn in salary and benefit data by Oct. 21. The county of Santa Barbara did submit data, but it was incomplete and was not posted on the controller’s website.
The raw salary and benefit information submitted by the rest of the state’s cities and counties is available at the State Controller’s Office website, at lgcr.sco.ca.gov.
Cities and counties that do not respond to the controller’s request could face fines of up to $5,000
The Business Times’ own survey of salaries and benefits for the top administrators in each county and city in the region is at www.pacbiztimes.com, under “public sector pay data.”
The Controller’s Office has also requested salary data by Dec. 13 from 828 transit, waste disposal, police and fire districts. Another 2,535 special districts will be required to report the information by June 2011.
