This bill passed the House in the previous Congress but never made it though the Senate. Surely, now its time has come.

With newspapers filled with tales of veterans who are not able to find suitable work after heroically serving our nation in wartime, a news release from the office of Lois Capps, D-Santa Barbara, caught our eye.

It seems the House of Representatives has passed a bipartisan bill co-authored by Capps and Adam Kinzinger a Republican from Illinois. The Veteran Emergency Medical Technician Support Act would assist states in streamlining their certification requirements for veterans with military medical training who want to continue their career as EMTs after they muster out. The bill would ease a number of roadblocks that prevent veterans from qualifying for EMT certification.

This bill passed the House in the previous Congress but never made it though the Senate. Surely, now its time has come.
