A fund has been established for the victims of Friday night’s massacre in Isla Vista.
KSBY-TV and Heritage Oaks Bank have partnered with the Santa Barbara Foundation to establish the fund.
Check or cash donations will be accepted at any of Heritage Oaks’ 17 branches in Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo counties when the bank reopens for business on Tuesday, following the Memorial Day holiday. Donors can also visit the foundation’s website at www.sbfoundation.org to make donations by credit card and designate specifically that the donation go to the Victims of Isla Vista Fund.
On Friday night, six people were murdered by a 22-year-old man in the small college town alongside UC Santa Barbara. Thirteen more people were injured before the gunman killed himself.
The victims are Chen Yuan Hong, George Chen, Weihan Wang, Veronika Weiss, Katie Cooper and Chris Martinez.
“When we heard about this tragedy, it was devastating. But we knew the people in our local community would want to help in some way,” KSBY General Manager Kathleen Choal said in a statement.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims and the families impacted by this terrible tragedy,” Heritage Oaks President and CEO Simone Lagomarsino said in a statement.
