The Ventura County Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors has announced that President and CEO Edward Summers is resigning. Summers’ resignation was effective on Oct. 24.

Stepping into the position on an interim basis is current Vice Chair of Business Development Matthew Graczyk as the chamber launches the effort to find a new CEO.

“We are thankful for Ed’s leadership over the past three years as the chamber has undergone a successful transformation,” said Board Chair Mary Jarvis. “We wish Ed the very best in the next phase of his career. We are excited about the chamber’s future and will continue to maintain our strong momentum moving forward.”

Summers said his resignation was a personal decision. “I have enjoyed my time at the chamber. However, as life and priorities have changed I need more flexibility at this time. I know the chamber will continue to be agreat asset in the community,” he said.

A veteran banker and former Ventura City Council member, Summers had a long history of working with the chamber prior to taking over as CEO. Summers had struck a balance between the city’s business community and sometimes growth-resistant political hierarchy, hosting a number of business and jobs summits and working to enhance the city’s startup culture.
