Our thoughts are with the family of Alvaro Medrano, Sr. who, with owner Ken Riding, managed the La Vista Vineyard in Paso Robles.

He was confronted, beaten and killed by off-duty correctional officers on the streets of San Miguel on Sept. 7. After initially being questioned and released, the officers are now facing voluntary manslaughter charges.

A naturalized American citizen, he was a successful vineyard manager and consultant over a period of 40 years, helping to pioneer the industry in Santa Barbara, SLO and Monterey counties. More than 1,000 people have joined the effort to obtain the truth about what happened to Medrano. Find out more at www.justiceforalvaro.org or www.facebook.com/justiceforalvaro.
