St. John’s Pleasant Valley Hospital in Camarillo will hold a groundbreaking ceremony at 3:30 p.m. Sept. 24 for a three-story, 75,000-square-foot tower.

The $80 million addition, which will be attached to the emergency department, will occupy the plot of land where the old emergency department parking lot now sits.

The first floor of the new tower will house three state-of-the-art operating rooms, a dual purpose room, a kitchen and cafeteria with outdoor seating, a chapel, a gift shop and a reception area. The addition of a dual purpose room will allow interventional and therapeutic radiology procedures to be done at the hospital.

The second and third floors will have 50  patient rooms. The new rooms will average 245 sq. ft., almost double the size of current patient rooms.
