Residents near Vandenberg Air Force Base may get an early wakeup call on Feb. 10.
A United Launch Alliance Delta 4 carrying a National Reconnaissance Office satellite will blast off from Vandenberg at 3:39 a.m. The United Launch Alliance is a joint venture between Lockheed Martin and Boeing.
The launch will happen from Launch Complex 6 on the base’s southwest corner. Vandenberg’s 4th Space Launch Squadron will work with the United Launch Alliance to conduct the mission.
“A launch like this takes teamwork and dedication,” said Lt. Col. Eric Zarybnisky, the squadron’s commander, in a news release. “Our mission assurance technicians and engineers have worked hand-in-hand with United Launch Alliance going over critical procedures and tasks to certify this launch is secure.”
