The U.S. Air Force conducted its second intercontinental ballistic missile test from Vandenberg Air Force Base in a week Feb. 25.
An unarmed Minuteman 3 launched at 11:01 p.m. from Vandenberg on Feb. 25 only five days after the U.S. launched another Minuteman 3. The missile traveled about 4,200 miles and hit a target near the Kwajalein Atoll in the Marshall Islands of the South Pacific.
Minuteman 3 rockets date back to the 1970s, have a range of about 6,000 miles and travel at about 15,000 miles per hour.
