St. John’s Pleasant Valley Hospital in Camarillo received a $5 million donation from an anonymous philanthropist that will establish a new surgical suite consisting of three operating rooms and a family waiting area. The donation is the largest in the hospital’s 42-year history.

“We are extremely grateful to receive this extraordinary gift,” said Darren Lee, president and CEO of St. John’s Pleasant Valley Hospital and St. John’s Regional Medical Center. “The support of our donors is inspiring and ensures that advanced health care services will be available in our local community for future generations.”

The three-story, 70,000 square-foot patient addition will be built onto the southwest side of the current hospital at 2309 Antonio Ave. in Camarillo. Highlights include three new technologically advanced operating suites, a state-of-the-art cardiac catheterization laboratory, preoperative and post anesthesia care units, 50 private rooms, a new lobby and a redesigned café.

“The donor, a grateful patient, has made this significant gift in memory of her dear father, a surgeon who would be impressed with the state-of-the-art operating rooms in the new surgical suite,” said Debi Klein, vice president of philanthropy for the St. John’s Healthcare Foundation.
