California Lutheran University will launch an incubator out of its entrepreneurship center in Westlake Village, the school announced April 4.
The school opened the California Lutheran University Center for Entrepreneurship in 2014 as a co-working space for regional entrepreneurs. A contractor ran the facility until Cal Lutheran took over operations last summer.
The new incubator, called the Hub101 Incubator Program, will be an intensive three-month program with mentoring sessions, workshops, investor meetings and networking events for entrepreneurs. Eight companies will start the program when it begins April 11.
Daniel Ball and Greg Monterrosa joined the center in February to run the co-working space. Ball will manage the program. Monterrosa, the community manager, co-founded Westlake Village-based MyLLC.com and last year mentored more than 100 startups through Startup Weekend Europe.
“We take companies that are still really early stage and bring them in and coach them,” Ball said. “Many of the people that come in are first-time entrepreneurs.”
