Goleta-based LED technology company Soraa announced Dec. 22 that its products exceeded the certification needed for California’s Title 24 lighting standard, making it the first company with a complete line of LED lamps to do so.

Soraa’s LEDs had both a color rendering index and a deep red rendering index of 95, greater than the 90 and 50 needed, respectively, to achieve the JA8-2016-E certification. Additionally, its lights dimmed down to 1 percent and came in under the 30 percent stroboscopic flicker threshold for the standard.

Under the Title 24 requirement, beginning Jan. 1, 2017, all new and retrofit construction projects will require JA8-2016-E certified lamps to be permitted.
