Santa Barbara City College and its foundation received a $1 million grant creating an endowment fund for its School of Business and Entrepreneurship from Julie Nadel and the Nadel Foundation.

The school will be renamed the Jack and Julie Nadel School of Business and Entrepreneurship, and the funds will establish an incubator and event space in the lobby of the Business and Communications building. The redesign will be done by Dawn Ziemer of Santa Barbara-based KBZ Architects.

“We are honored to connect Jack and Julie Nadel’s name to our business and entrepreneurship school,” Melissa Moreno, dean of educational programs, said in a news release. “Jack was a true pioneer in the entrepreneurial community, who laid the groundwork for SBCC’s practical approach to business education. His legacy will live on and his values will be instilled in our students through this generous donation.”

  1. How fantastic and generous that Julie is carrying on this important mission to help others succeed and grow, right here at SBCC where careers are started and developed! She is a truly incredible person and this gift is outstanding. This means the world to me and hits so close to home–I’ve been an adjunct professor at SBCC, teaching in the very building where their names and legacies and these programs will shine, and where Jack was honored in 2013 with the inaugural Entrepreneurial Lifetime Notable Achievement Award. I’ve also been a student taking some of the very classes that reside in the business division many years ago, and know how much they influenced my career. I’m thrilled to know future generations will be positively impacted by The Jack and Julie Nadel School of Business and Entrepreneurship!
