Santa Barbara County has launched a website to register cannabis growing businesses.
The registry, created by an ordinance passed April 11, does not collect information about individuals growing cannabis for personal use or the six plants allowed under the Health and Safety Code for medical marijuana patients.
The information will be held on a secure website, according to a news release from the county.
Data on current, former and future operations in the unincorporated areas of the county will help the Board of Supervisors craft studies on the industry and determine the number of permits to be offered.
Registration will be open until June 30, and an ad hoc committee established by the board will host a public meeting from noon-2 p.m. April 25 at the Planning Commission Hearing Room, 105 E. Anapamu St., to discuss future regulations.
