Four tri-county businesses received tax credits to hire additional employees on the Central Coast as part of the California Competes program through the Governor’s Office of Business and Economic Development.
A total of $91.4 million for 114 companies was approved by the tax credit committee.
Carpinteria’s Procore Technologies will invest around $4.7 million to bring on 739 employees as part of its expansion in Santa Barbara County, San Jose and San Diego. It will receive a $2.5 million tax credit.
Honey Science Corp., based in Los Angeles, will get $2.5 million to offset a more than $10 million investment, adding 254 people in LA and Santa Barbara.
Advanced Spectral Technology, headquartered in Simi Valley, will receive $500,000 to hire 24 employees and San Antonio Winery will add 33 employees to its LA, Ontario and Paso Robles locations with the help of a $475,000 credit. The two companies plan to spend $825,000 and $15.43 million, respectively.
Since it was created in 2013, the program has awarded $492.5 million to 688 companies for creating more than 70,000 new jobs.
