The Paso Robles City Council is considering a proposal by Firestone Walker to expand its brewing capacity by taking over the former Nu-Way Cleaners location at 1385 Vendels Circle.
The brewery would tear down an existing 19,000-square-foot building and replace it with a 6,300-square-foot structure and 12 fermentation storage tanks, connected to its current headquarters at 1400 Ramada Drive by an overhead pipe.
The City Council will need to allow a permanent right-of-way encroachment for the pipe, which will cross other properties, according to planning documents. The tanks would also exceed the zoning district’s 50-foot height limit, which the planning commission recommended the council approve.
Firestone recently celebrated its 20th anniversary on the Central Coast with an expansion of its headquarters by nearly 10,000 square feet.
