Santa Barbara IT maintenance and network provider Curvature announced that it had named a new CEO, Peter Weber, following its merger with Charlotte, N.C.-based SMS Systems.
Weber, formerly of Carpathia, which was acquired by Kansas-based QTS Data Centers in 2015, joined Curvature as executive chairman of its board of directors earlier this year. He also co-founded and led SevenSpace as its CEO prior to it being acquired by Santa Clara-based Sun Microsystems, going on to head up its $5 billion global services arm.
“I’m excited to lead Curvature on its fast-growth trajectory as demand escalates for third-party maintenance, pre-owned hardware and alternative services strategies,” Weber said in a news release Sept 20. “Now more than ever, global organizations need help extending IT asset lifecycles while optimizing their existing networks and data centers to reduce cost and risk. Curvature’s unbiased, vendor-agnostic services provide customers unparalleled IT freedom and flexibility.”
The company also brought on Scott Thomas as chief human resources officer. At his most recent position, Thomas oversaw human resources during the Charter Communications and Time Warner mergers, which involved more than 90,000 employees.
“Peter’s appointment as CEO and the addition of a proven human resources executive will further propel Curvature forward as the undisputed global leader in the emerging market for third-party maintenance and multi-vendor sourcing,” said Joel Schwartz, partner and head of private equity Americas at Partners Group, a global private markets investment manager and majority owner of Curvature. “Guided by Peter’s industry knowledge and business acumen, Curvature is poised for accelerated growth and unsurpassed delivery of the most transformative network, server and storage solutions at scale.”
Curvature said it had more than 2,200 employees worldwide, with $545 million in revenue. It operates in 12 countries and plans to expand into the Australia, South America and Africa markets after building out its direct delivery organization in Europe, outgoing CEO John Wozniak told the Business Times in July.
