Semtech announced a new product Sept. 20 aimed at meeting the surge immunity requirements for the telecommunications industry.
The Camarillo semiconductor and Internet of Things company began offering a new product on its TClamp platform that protects data interfaces against quick electrical spikes and minimizes capacitive loading.
The new product exceeds industry standard requirements and is only 2.6 millimeters square, the company said in a news release.
“High density data ports in telecom infrastructure systems increasingly require higher levels of surge immunity,” said Tamir Reshef, product marketing director for Semtech’s industrial and telecom protection products group. “Semtech continues to innovate and extend its TClamp platform by providing a truly unique feature set combined with an optimal balance of high-surge transient voltage protection and minimal capacitive loading to maintain signal integrity on high-speed data interfaces.”
Called the TClamp3312N, the company can ship it in quantities of 10,000 at $1.36 apiece. Semtech shares ended Sept. 21 down 25 cents to $35.05.
