After a four-month search process, Food Share chose its interim CEO and past board member Monica White to be president and CEO of the organization.
Food Share, Ventura County’s regional food bank, serves 74,500 people every month and distributes 11 million pounds of food, or 9 million meals, to residents every year. It is part of the Feeding America network, the nation’s largest hunger relief organization.
“Starting day one, Monica White has proven to be an extraordinary leader bringing immediate stability to Food Share,” said board chair and Ventura County Credit Union President Joe Schroeder in a news release. “As interim CEO, Monica’s ability to tackle Food Share’s challenges head on with immediate revenue results solidified our decision.”
White was an executive at the Ventura County Star for 12 years, most recently as the director of marketing and consumer sales. In her career, she has worked with the Walt Disney Co. and ABC Television.
She earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the USC School of Business, Entrepreneur program.
“It’s an honor to be asked to lead Food Share,” said White in a news release. “I now understand more than ever the important role Food Share serves in our community. Without the support of our donors, volunteers and pantry partners, we couldn’t serve 74,500 hungry people every month. I am excited about continuing the work started by Food Share’s founders nearly 40 years ago.”
