The air quality watch in Santa Barbara County caused by smoke and ash from the Thomas fire has been canceled by the Santa Barbara County Public Health Department and the Santa Barbara County Air Pollution Control District.
Air quality in the county has been at safe levels for several days and the history-making fire is almost contained, officials said.
County Public Health Deputy Director Susan Klein-Rothschild said residents should be mindful of stirring up ash into the air. She said the best way to clean up ash is gently with a broom or hose and advised anyone doing so to avoid skin contact with ash.
