Cleanup and repair efforts shifted to Highway 192, Caltrans announced Jan. 29, following the reopening of commuter and business artery Highway 101.

Repopulation was underway for most of Montecito and Summerland, but the agency advised that drivers continue to use Highway 101 for through traffic rather than taking surface streets.

Several bridges were slated for complete rebuilding and replacement, including at Montecito Creek, Romero Creek, Toro Canyon. San Ysidro Creek, Toro Creek bridges were open for one-way guided traffic during the repair efforts, as was Arroyo Parida Creek bridge, which had previously been schedule for repair.

The department did not have estimates on the total cost of the cleanup and construction. It also announced that it would close Highway 101 northbound at Clark Avenue in Santa Maria for bridge repairs on Jan. 30 between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m.
