A fast-moving brush fire closed down traffic on Highway 101 on Nov. 8 in the Hill Canyon area of Newbury Park and Thousand Oaks.
The fire broke out around 2 p.m., according to the Ventura County Fire Department, and had grown to around 10,000 acres by 4 p.m.
The fire department upgraded it to a second alarm, sending 165 firefighters and eight air tankers to the scene and issuing mandatory evacuations for Camarillo Springs and the Vicieto Trailer Park.
The campus of CSU Channel Islands was evacuated Nov. 8 because of the fire.
