This year’s National Small Business Week awardees were named by the head of the U.S. Small Business Administration Linda McMahon on April 4, and Ventura County Second District Supervisor Linda Parks was honored with the 2019 Phoenix Award for outstanding contributions to disaster recovery by a public official.

Parks is recognized for her efforts during the recovery process of the November 2018 Woolsey fire that devastated East Ventura County.

“During National Small Business Week, the SBA will present well-deserved honors to the many individuals and organizations that have excelled at assisting small businesses, whether they are starting, growing, or recovering from disasters,” McMahon said

National Small Business Week awarded winners in 17 different categories, ranging from research and development, exporting and outreach, to contracting, lending, disaster recovery, manufacturing and construction. All awardees have been invited to Washington, D.C. to participate in events and ceremonies on May 5-6.

Parks is based out of Thousand Oaks and represents most of the surrounding unincorporated areas.
