Digital West, an internet service provider based in San Luis Obispo, is joining Wave Broadband in an acquisition announced by the two companies on Jan. 26.
Wave Broadband is a larger telecommunications company serving over 450,000 customers, with operations in Oregon, Washington and California.
Wave has specific ties to the central coast as well, already providing service in Santa Maria, Lompoc and Solvang.
With the addition of Digital West, Wave’s presence in northern Santa Barbara County will be stronger and the company will look to expand in San Luis Obispo County in the near future.
According to a Wave Broadband news release, the acquisition will give Digital West customers access to additional resources that will accelerate fiber deployment to businesses, schools, government offices, and residential buildings throughout the Central Coast.
The company also said all existing Digital West services, products, and customer support will continue without interruption. Additionally, key members from Digital West, such as company CEO and founder Tim Williams and president and Chief Customer Officer Jeff Buckingham will continue with Wave Broadband’s local leadership team.
