Pacifica Hotels purchased El Colibri Boutique Hotel & Spa in Cambria for an undisclosed price, the company announced on Oct. 30.

The deal marks Pacifica’s fifth property in Cambria. The Irvine-based hotel management company already owns the FogCatcher Inn, Pelican Inn & Suites, Cambria Landing Inn & Suites, and Fireside Inn on Moonstone Beach.

The company said it plans to acquire and renovate more boutique hotels along the coast.

“This acquisition represents Pacifica’s strategic initiative of continued growth in high barriers to entry markets,” Pacifica Director of Acquisitions Matthew Kou said in a news release.

The oceanfront 34-room hotel at 5620 Moonstone Beach Drive has bicycle and walking trails to the beach and is within walking distance to downtown Cambria. It features a spa, wine bar and a lounge that can accommodate up to 50 people for private events.

Guest rooms offer a choice of standard, deluxe and suite accommodations with woodland or town views, gas fireplaces, complimentary Wi-Fi and stone-detailed bathrooms.

El Colibri changed hands in 2000 for $551,000. It has an assessed total value of about $2.4 million, according to property records.

Pacifica is owned by its parent company Invest West Financial Corp. and was formed in 1993. It is one of the largest owners and operators of independent hotels along the coast with 30 from San Diego to San Francisco, as well as Hawaii and Florida.

It recently purchased the 31-room, 101-bed Wayfarer hostel in the Funk Zone at 12 E. Montecito St. from the Parker family.

Pacifica also plans to build a 55,000-square-foot, 45-foot tall hotel at 926 Indio Muerto St., not far from the Fess Parker Double Tree Resort. The three-story hotel will have 115 to 120 rooms and a 90-space, semi-subterranean parking lot.
