Route One Farmers Market, a new addition to the Lompoc Valley, will celebrate National Farmers Market Week from 10 a.m.- 2 p.m. Aug. 4 at 3745 Constellation Road in Vandenberg Village in Lompoc.
The market will offer fresh local produce, artisanal breads, cold-pressed juices, handmade crafts, African shopping baskets and food truck lunch options. Kids activities are available for all with no purchase necessary.According to statistics recently released by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), farmers markets and farm stands account for roughly $2 billion of the $3 billion that Americans spend annually on farm-direct products. This revenue, in turn, supports the livelihoods of more than 165,000 mostly small and mid-sized farms and ranches. Route One supports 11 Lompoc Valley growers, distributing hundreds of pounds of locally grown food.
The weekly market features locally grown produce and goods from Bautista Farms, Dare 2 Dream Farms, Flower Valley Candle Co., Gold Coast Mushrooms, Julia’s Juices, Maite’s Vegetables, Mendoza Farms, Rocking Chair Farms, Sunbeam Farms and Sweet Succulents. Local baker Three Flies on a Knife will sell gourmet pastries and sourdough bread and Patsy’s Baked Goods and Confection will offer diet-friendly treats.
Makers and craft vendors include Biker Spice, Hippie Hues, J.F.Y., Natural Mystics, TJM Handcrafted Wood, Tupperware and Wanderlust Wildcraft, offering locally-made crafts, goods, food storage and body products.
Feed My Seoul food truck will also be there.
