Specialty Silicone Fabricators, a firm that makes parts for high-tech medical devices, is building a 120,000-square-foot facility near Paso Robles Municipal Airport. It’s the largest manufacturing building project in San Luis Obispo County in years.
The building’s walls and roof are finished, with work continuing inside on a massive state-of-the-art manufacturing floor that will meet clean-room standards for devices that are implanted in patients’ bodies. The facility is slated to be finished next year and will bring Specialty Silicone’s 200 San Luis Obispo County employees under one roof.
“We’ve been operating from three facilities here in Paso, all within about a block of each other,” said President Kevin Meyer. “Over the years, we’ve just been constrained. We had outgrown the space.”
