Santa Barbara Airport is offering direct flights to San Diego this summer.
The service starts June 17, with twice-daily departures and arrivals through Alaska Airlines. The airline’s Embraer 175 jets will hold up to 74 passengers, with four classes of seating options.
The flights are in the afternoon and evening, with the first flight leaving San Diego at 4:30 p.m. and arriving in Santa Barbara at 5:35 p.m. The returning flight from Santa Barbara leaves at 6:15 p.m. and arrives in San Diego at 7:17 p.m.
“Summertime travel to southern California just got easier with this new direct service,” Santa Barbara Airport Director Henry Thompson said in a news release. “This new flight will offer a quick trip to sunny San Diego for families and those needing to travel for business.”
With the new route, Alaska Airlines now has three direct daily flights out of Santa Barbara Airport. To celebrate the arrival of the new flights, which include trips to and from Chicago, the airport will have Dave’s Dogs at the terminal from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Saturday and Sunday in June.
Alaska Airlines will also begin flying to San Diego out of San Luis Obispo on June 17, a route that was announced in April.
